As a stylist, you help people create and develop a certain look. What advice would you give to individuals who want to start “elementing” (i.e. wearing jewellery)?
I know that it is said that Coco Chanel advised to take one item off before leaving the house, but I have to say that I actually believe you should do the opposite… Before you leave, add something! I think adding jewellery is also a great way to make a more effortless and casual look feel “put-together.” As women, we are all striving to look like we didn’t try while simultaneously looking polished and put-together. I think that adding a statement piece of jewellery or layering pieces allows you to look styled without looking too contrived.
I think that creating a signature style is about first figuring out what works for you and then constantly refining that formula. Therefore, I love to use jewellery and accessories to evolve a look, it gives you an amazing opportunity to experiment! I love the idea of styling and restyling pieces multiple ways and then using jewellery to take it to the next level and make it feel even more special and personal.
For example, I think you can take a really simple look, like jeans and a t-shirt or jeans and a sweater, and add a beautiful necklace or some amazing earrings and create something that feels so much more unique. I also love the fact that jewellery always fits and looks good on everyone. If you aren’t feeling your best, putting on something fabulous like an amazing necklace or cool earrings is a total mood booster.
